Compassion, Care, & Hope
Got Shoes?
As you see, this gentleman needed a pair of shoes. We had the perfect preowned pair, in his size, that looked new. He was ecstatic getting a new pair of shoes that fit him like a glove.
Most of us are blessed with a closet full of shoes. Sadly, most of our homeless brothers and sisters only have the one pair they are wearing, and they are not in great shape.
Our team member, Kathryn, shares compassion, care, and hope. She shares this story from our September 1st outreach.
“A young woman with a couple of kids came to the truck asking for some shoes. The ones she was wearing looked tight and uncomfortable. I asked her what size she needed, and she told me, so I got the bin of shoes that size and suggested she look through it. She picked out a pair that, to my eyes, looked too small, but she insisted. I helped another person while she tried the shoes on. I asked her how they fit, and she hesitated and said she would make them work. I told her there was no need to do that, as we have plenty of shoes. I got the bin containing shoes a size larger and suggested she look and see if anything in there looked good to her. She picked out a pair and put them on and with a big smile on her face said, “Ahhhhhh” with such happiness and relief. I told her how glad I was that she found some that fit, because it’s hard to feel good when your feet hurt. It really warmed my heart to see the relief and happiness on that woman’s face”.
Living outdoors is rough on shoes!
At the past two outreaches we were able to give out sixty pairs of shoes, and now need to replenish our inventory.
We need men’s and women’s shoes and boots suitable to wear outdoors. They do not have to be new!
Got Insect Repellent?
Mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and ants are just a few of the insects that can make your life miserable when you are homeless and living on the streets.
Our team member, Renie, shares compassion, care, and hope by giving this poor soul a bottle of insect repellent and helping by spraying the first application.
Everyone deserves compassion, care, and hope!
