September 2024 Newsletter

Many of our supporters are curious as to where we go to help the homeless, and what items we carry to distribute.

Our primary goal is to reach out to individuals that are unsheltered, underserved, and most needy. We do not discriminate, or judge people based on their appearance.

Scripture tells us that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, showing His love through our actions. We are to spread kindness and compassion, just as Jesus did during His time on earth.

This past Sunday after morning service, a group of volunteers helped load our five vehicles. We caravaned, making two stops. The first stop was at the Dallas library on MLK Jr. Blvd, second stop was on Corsicana Street, a few blocks from the downtown Dallas library.

There were many hungry, thirsty, needy people on the streets of Dallas.

The following is a list of items carried for this day.

(   ) denotes actual amounts distributed for this day.

  • 100 (98) bags, each containing 33 items.

  • 36 (33) ladies’ backpacks, each containing 5 personal care items.

  • 6 (1) bags for dogs, each contained food, biscuits, water, and bowls.

  • 700 (600) bottles of water.

  • 644 (370) items of clothing, including shirts, tops, pants, shorts, underwear, bras, socks, and caps.

  • 103 (42) pairs of shoes.

  • 100 (55) bottles of insect repellent.

  • 10 (8) bags with razors, shave cream, and deodorant.

  • 130 (130) hamburgers.

A Blessing to Bless!

It is a joy to give…

a hamburger to someone that hasn’t eaten that day.

A bottle of water to a thirsty soul.

a new pair of underwear from size small to 3X.

men and women’s clothes that fit.

a bottle of Insect repellent and hear someone say, “this insect repellent is a lifesaver”.

and share, Hope, Compassion, and Prayer with someone that says, “thanks for being here”.

Ways, you can help us help others:

Winter is around the corner and most of our homeless brothers and sisters are not prepared for the cold weather. We especially need blankets, sleeping bags, tents, coats, jackets, sweaters, hoodies, and shoes.

We always need clean men’s and ladies’ shirts, tops, pants, sweaters, coats, socks, bras, caps, and new underwear.  We especially need men’s pants, jeans, and shorts in sizes 30-38. Shoes & boots suitable for outdoor wear, blankets, sleeping bags, & tents are useful.

Assembling and filling bags and Ladies’ backpacks. This is generally done one Saturday each month and is a fun time of fellowship. Check the website for upcoming events.

Sorting clothes. People are responding to our need for clean or new clothing items. Volunteers are needed to help sort, size, and organize these items.  We meet in our fellowship hall every Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30, and always appreciate help.

Financial contributions. As you can see it takes a lot of time, energy, money, and prayer to keep this ministry going.  Your financial contributions will allow us to continue this ministry and share God’s love with others.
