October 2024 Newsletter
October 19: Twenty volunteers gathered for a time of fun and fellowship as we assembled bags and prepared supplies for the Sunday outreach.
October 20: A beautiful day with morning temperatures in the low fifties, rising to the low eighties. Twelve team members loaded five vehicles, prayed, and headed to South Dallas (a mile or so from Fair Park), making three stops.
We were able to share with more than one hundred needy, hungry souls. This group aged from 24 to 90, and women made up one third of those we served on this day.
Items shared on this day: 100 Bob’s Bags, each containing a large print New Testament, homeless services directory, mylar blanket, rain poncho, pair socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, band-aids, lip chap, water, snacks, protein bars, food items, and hamburger.
35 Ladies’ personal care backpacks
7 bags for dogs, with food, water, biscuits, and bowls + 3 cans cat food
500 bottles of water
54 blankets
6 sleeping bags
6 tote bags
16 packs with razors, shaving cream, and deodorant
115 hamburgers
Clothing (400)
81 hoodies & sweatshirts
135 pair of socks
30 ladies’ underwear
19 bras
35 pair of ladies’ pants
72 men’s underwear
28 pair of men’s pants
The plight of these homeless men and women is a sad, sad, story. It’s a story of hunger, fear, desperation, loneliness, sickness, mental illness, abuse, and addiction. Escaping homelessness is nearly impossible for many. Temporary housing, a job, and guidance is the best way out.
This is a partial list of people we met on Sunday, listed by age, gender, name, and prayer concerns. Please lift these folks in prayer.

Your help is needed:
Winter weather will be here soon! Our homeless brothers and sisters are not prepared for the cold weather. They need blankets, sleeping bags, tents, coats, jackets, sweaters, hoodies, and shoes.
All sizes of clean men’s and ladies’ pants, shirts, tops, sweaters, coats, bras, socks and caps. New men’s and ladies’ underwear and socks. Boxer briefs for men in medium and large, and shoes suitable for outdoors are especially needed.
Assembling and filling bags and Ladies’ backpacks. This is generally done one Saturday each month and is a fun time of fellowship. Check the website for upcoming events.
Sorting clothes. People are responding to our need for clean or new clothing items. Volunteers are needed to help sort, size, and organize these items. We meet in our fellowship hall every Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30, and always appreciate help.
Financial contributions. As you can see it takes a lot of time, energy, money, and prayer to keep this ministry going. Your financial contributions will allow us to continue this ministry and share God’s love with others.
